Dime (“we” or “us” or “our”) respects the privacy of our users (“user” or “you”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our mobile application (the “Application”). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully.  IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THE TERMS OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY, PLEASE DO NOT ACCESS THE APPLICATION.

 

We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason.  We will alert you about any changes by updating the “Last updated” date of this Privacy Policy.  You are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed of updates. You will be deemed to have been made aware of, will be subject to, and will be deemed to have accepted the changes in any revised Privacy Policy by your continued use of the Application after the date such revised Privacy Policy is posted. 

 

This Privacy Policy applies to the use of the Application. The online app store from which you download this app - will process your data according to their own privacy policy - for more information, contact your app store provider.


WHAT DATA DO WE COLLECT?


The information we may collect via the Application depends on the content and materials you use, and includes: 

 

Personal Data


We collect some personal information regarding your profile. 

  • The mail address that you provide to us when you register yourself as a user to our app allows us to assist you using our app and inform you about updates in our terms, conditions and privacy policies in the future. 

  • Your phone number, in order to verify your account when you register as a user. 

  • Profile settings, elements that allow you to personalize your account are stored. Including but not limited to : username, real name, biography, job, selection of interests.

If you choose to share data about yourself via your profile, online chat, or other interactive areas of the Application, please be advised that all data publicly shared will be accessible to anyone who accesses the Application.

 

Derivative Data 

By using our Application, you will provide and generate specific data that are essential to the use of the Application and the user experience that you will have. Please be aware that you as the user are solely responsible for the data and information that you choose to post. Dime is a platform on which the users post information and Dime is in no way publisher or curator of this information. 

  • In order to subscribe to the app, you will have to accept the terms and conditions and our data policy by ticking a box. Furthermore there is an extra confirmation around our community guidelines which you have to accept in order to use the Application.

  • Inside the Application, you will be able to choose some categories related to your interest, such as, arts, food and drinks, workshops, photo and film, literature, live music, nightlife, performance, sports. We will collect this data, only if you choose to make them default categories in your profile section.

  • Some functionalities you use inside the Application are collected, such as events, pictures and chat. You can make these items public, in which case every user will be able to see it and attend. If you choose the private option, only users invited and attending the event will see it. Your profile is public and every user will be able to see it.


Financial and Data


No financial data is requested for the use of our Application for now. Please make sure to read any update regarding this policy in the future to stay informed.

 

Geo-Location Information

We may request access or permission to and track location-based information from your mobile device, either continuously or while you are using the Application, to provide location-based service, essentially our interactive map, provided by Google. To implement such such a service, we are using the Google Maps API(s) to provide the Services through the Customer Application(s), Google must receive and collect data from End Users and Customer, including search terms, IP addresses, and latitude/longitude coordinates. Those data are combined with interest mentioned before to enhance user experience inside the app. It shows you the events nearby that fit the categories and interests you selected.

Mobile Device Access

We may request access or permission to features from your mobile device, including your mobile device’s (camera, contacts) in order to facilitate you posting pictures or other data in the Application. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device’s settings, native from your phone, not inside the app.

  

Push Notifications

We may request to send you push notifications regarding your account or the Application. If you wish to opt-out from receiving these types of communications, you may turn them off in your device’s settings at any time.

WHY DO WE COLLECT THIS DATA?


Having accurate information about you permits us to provide you with a safe, efficient, and customized experience. Especially, we may use information collected about you via the Application to:

  • To improve your experience inside our Application : 

With information such as your localization, interests and categories we can suggest events nearby that fit your interests. It allows you to get a personalised experience inside the app, and avoids providing you with random events suggestions that are not tailored to your interests. Those data are processed to improve your experience inside the Application and will not be used for marketing purposes. 

  • Pictures that are posted in event stories are subject to the same privacy policies as written before. When a picture is reported to be inappropriate content, we at Dime will access the picture to confirm whether it is indeed against our community guidelines. This is done by trained staff and will happen in a discrete manner and only when needed. 

  • The chat allows people attending the same event to interact with each other through messaging. When inappropriate behaviour is reported, we will have to check these reports by accessing the reported chat so that we can take appropriate measures. Dime engages itself to only access a chat when it is strictly necessary and not to observe more than is strictly needed to take necessary action on complaints against our community guidelines. 

  • Through the privacy settings in the Application, you will be able to control what other users can access your profile and what data you share can be accessed by other users.

  • Your username and user profile will allow people to identify you easily in order to interact with you.

  • Your data is collected so you can get access to it at any time.The data is stored for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account your profile data will be deleted within 6 months. The events you created, the pictures you posted will however remain in the Application and the database.

  • For security reasons : your phone number and mail addresses are the best ways to verify your account. And the agreement of the terms and conditions purpose is to make sure you read our conditions, you are over 18 or of adult age in your country, and finally to protect our company against legal procedures.

  • Making sure our community values are respected : If someone reports bad behaviour of another user, such as an inappropriate picture or message, we will check the data on our servers and isolate the data related to this incident in order to take appropriate measures.

  • To improve our own service and keep you informed : besides security, your email address will let us inform you when we make an update to the Application, but also when you want to report a bug.



DISCLOSURE OF YOUR INFORMATION

We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations. Your information may be disclosed as follows:

By Law or to Protect Rights

If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.  This includes exchanging information with other entities for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.


Interactions with Other Users

If you interact with other users of the Application, those users may see your name, profile photo, and descriptions of your activity, including sending invitations to other users, chatting with other users, liking posts, following blogs.

 

Online Postings

When you post comments, contributions or other content to the Application, your posts may be viewed by all users and may be publicly distributed outside the Application in perpetuity.

  

Sale or Bankruptcy

If we reorganise or sell all or a portion of our assets, undergo a merger, or are acquired by another entity, we may transfer your information to the successor entity.  If we go out of business or enter bankruptcy, your information would be an asset transferred or acquired by a third party.  You acknowledge that such transfers may occur and that the transferee may decline honour commitments we made in this Privacy Policy.

 

Sharing your data with other users
We are not responsible for the actions of users with whom you share personal or sensitive data inside or outside the Application. We strongly advise you not to share personal data with other users and are cautious of sharing data inside the Application.

Interactions
We keep a record of your interactions and track your data while using the app. We use this data for analysis, recommendations and to provide better user experience. 

Location 

Through the Google Map API we track your location in the Application with your permission to provide you local and personalised content in real time. For more information regarding the Google Maps API, please read the third party services section below.

  

THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES

The Application may contain links to third-party websites and applications of interest, that are not affiliated with us. Those links would be provided by the users, sharing links either on their profile, the events or the chat. Once you have used these links to leave the Application, any information you provide to these third parties is not covered by this Privacy Policy, and we cannot guarantee the safety and privacy of your information while visiting these links. Before visiting and providing any information to any third-party websites, you should inform yourself of the privacy policies and practices (if any) of the third party responsible for that website, and should take those steps necessary to, in your discretion, protect the privacy of your information. We are not responsible for the content or privacy and security practices and policies of any third parties, including other sites, services or applications that may be linked to or from the Application.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

In order to ensure that our product runs seamlessly, we use third party services. These third parties provide us with services to host, collect and analyse user or app-related data. In this relationship with third parties we disclose personal data, however we only do so in limited circumstances whenever it is essential to the third party being able to perform their service and always in accordance with applicable law. These service providers are contractually bound by us to keep your information confidential and to only use it for the purpose of providing their services. All service providers employed by us as (sub)processors outside the European Economic Area have concluded the Standard Contractual Clauses with us. The aforementioned third party services are the following:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): We use this service to store and manage the users information and event-related data such as the chat, event title and description. Please find more information in this regard in their privacy policy and GDPR center.

  • Google Maps API: We use this service to display event locations on a map. Please find more information in this regard in their terms of service.

  • Sentry: We use this service to collect app crash data to help us find and solve errors within the app. Please find more information in this regard in their security terms and privacy policy.

  • Cloudinary: We use this service to store and manage the users photos and videos related events they visit or create. Please find more information in this regard in their privacy policy.

  • Google cloud computer vision : We use this service to filter images (posted in the Application) which include inappropriate content.  Please find more information in this regard in their privacy policy.


SECURITY OF YOUR INFORMATION


We use organizational, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. All collected information is stored on Amazon and Cloudinary Servers and are processed by AWS and Cloudinary products. While Amazon and Cloudinary have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our best efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be fully guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. Any information disclosed online is vulnerable to interception and misuse by unauthorized parties. While we aim to give you the safest possible experience in our app, we cannot guarantee complete security if you provide personal information.

POLICY FOR CHILDREN

Our app has an age restriction of 18 years and older, therefore we do not knowingly solicit information from or market to children under the age of 18. If you become aware of any data we have collected from children under age 18, please contact us using the contact information provided below.

You may at any time review or change the information in your account or terminate your account by:
